REVIEW: SMALLVILLE SEASON 11, GUARDIAN, CHAPTER 2

April 20, 2012

Smallville Season 11 #2 was released today.  Remember this guy?  He’s in the comic.  Clark Kent.  The REAL Clark Kent.  This book is truly an amazing Superman story with the dual identity firmly in place.

This issue continues to uncover what has transpired in the six months since Apokolips tried to bump into Earth, referred to as Contact.  With pictures of slaves on the fiery planet, it’s tough to be an alien living on Earth unless you have another identity.

Key Superman mythos characters do what they do best.  Clark and Lois banter and miss each other with their busy schedules.  General Lane is at Lexcorp speaking with its top executive.  Remember AMBUSH?  Does Sam know or doesn’t he?  You get to decide in this comic.  Lex Luthor and Clark Kent meet at the newspaper stand.  Remember Lex lost his memory, but how much?  And the book ends with a OMG cliffhanger!

I’m trying not to give too much away because YOU NEED TO BUY THIS BOOK!  Even if you’ve never seen Smallville before or never bought a comic ever — this is a Superman story you will love.

Bryan Q. Miller knows these characters.  From the Clark and Lois banter to the General using phrases we’re familiar with to Lex being suspicious and power hungry.  It’s why he hates Superman so much.

Pere Perez is doing a fantastic job with the likenesses of all the actors as well as adhering to the iconic comic traits of the characters.

There are quite a few Easter eggs so examine it closely.  Also Superman fans will start putting pieces of future storylines together with some of the clues we’ve been given.

There’s real excitement about this book within the diverse and strong fanbase.

RATING:  Definitely 5 out of 5 SQUEES!

Spread the word about this comic!  It seems word of mouth will be the only promotion this book will get.  DC Comics has been unreasonably silent — especially about the fact that the first issue was #1 for digital comics (all kinds) for 6 days straight.  Comixology gave us that report, not DC.   Let’s show DC Comics what Smallville and Superman fans can do.   MAKE them promote this book!

Also don’t forget about the print compilation available in comic book stores (web or local)  on May 2nd.  Let’s make sure Smallville Season 11 is not to be ignored!!!

    I love it!!!
I also think is suspicious that DC hasn’t praise Smallville fans for having the first comic #1 for a week :/
