The multiplatform block of original content will debut next year on the cable network.

DC Entertainment, home to such superheroes as Batman and Superman, is teaming with Warner Bros. and Cartoon Network for a multiplatform block of original content called DC Nation on the network.

Debuting next year, DC Nation will feature on-air and online programming, interstitials, exclusive behind-the-scenes looks at Warners’ theatrical releases and an inside look into the world of DC, Cartoon Network announced Wednesday.

“DC Nation on Cartoon Network will be the first-ever dedicated broadcast destination to showcase the depth and breadth of the DC Universe,” DC Entertainment president Diane Nelson said in a statement. “We and our partners at WBTV are thrilled that fans will be able to immerse themselves in DC’s phenomenal stories, experience a wide spectrum of amazing characters and stay up-to-date on the latest happenings of the world’s greatest superheroes and their creators, both on-air and online.”

Green Lantern: The Animated Series,  from Warner Bros. and based on the long-running DC comic, was also among Cartoon Network’s new series pickups unveiled at its upfront presentation Tuesday in New York.

Warner Bros. will release its big-screen Ryan Reynolds starrer Green Lantern on June 17.
