‘Smallville’ Season 9 Preview: Has Tess Created a Super Mess?
by Matt Webb Mitovich

Jimmy died in Chloe’s arms. Lois went missing in time. Clark clashed with Doomsday, and then declared himself “dead.” A lot happened in the ‘Smallville‘ finale, up to and including the closing moment where the infamous Zod resurfaced. And the megalomaniacal major isn’t alone. Far from it. As revealed in the Season 9 premiere (Friday at 8 pm, the CW), Tess and her orb antics led hundreds of Kandorian outcasts to call Earth home. Is the stage being set for all-out war between Krypton’s favorite son, Kal-El, and the host of heathens from his home world? Cassidy Freeman, who plays Tess, shared a look at what’s to come.
The season premiere portends some pretty ominous stuff.
I know – isn’t it exciting?
What happened as a result of Tess meddling with the orb, I guess we file that under: “Be Careful What You Wish For”?
Absolutely. I may have done a really bad thing!

Smallville: Allison Scagliotti Talks Twyla the Twin
Anyway, it’s Allison Scagliotti who plays the female half of the duo and she has a few things to say about her role. On an interview with IESB.net, she discusses the idea of the Wonder Twins on Smallville and how different it is from her work on another hit sci-fi series, Warehouse 13.
Apparently, the 19-year-old actress grew up in the sci-fi genre, watching Star Wars and recently getting hooked on graphic novels. “[I]t looks like I’m settling into genre for awhile,” she admitted.
As for her role on Smallville as a Wonder Twin, she explained: “The Wonder Twins were introduced, back in the ’70′s, as part of the Super Friends comic, along with Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman and Robin. They’re little teen wonders from the planet Exxor, who when they activate their powers together, the girl takes any animal shape and the boy takes any form of water.”
However, there’s going to be quite a deviation from that when it comes to TV. “When you meet us on Smallville, we’re just getting the hang of using our powers for good, and we’re not particularly good at it. We have the best of intentions, and it blows up in our face.”
While there’s a certain element of fantasy and mystery to both of her shows, Scagliotti notes how different they can be. Warehouse 13 doesn’t have the formula followed by a nine-season show like Smallville, which makes for more possibilities. The CW series has more rules to follow.
“[W]hen you’re working with superheroes that have been established for decades, you do have to maintain a degree of rule-keeping, for the fans and for the integrity of the original story,” she said. “With Warehouse, we’ve got something brand new and all its own. I had fun on Smallville, but it’s a totally different world.”
