Variety has announced that the CW will be premiering the new season of Smallville on Sept. 25 as its first Friday premiere date.
Supernatural and the new Vampire Chronicles will be premiering on Sept. 10- so there will be two weeks with no Smallville until the season 9 premiere so make sure you watch the final episodes if you missed them!

Is the person that showed up at the end of the season finale preus. I was just wondering since the bottle city was mentioned and he is the law maker of the town. And when is Clark going to start flying?
Hey man! the person that showed up at the end of season 8 is “Mason”, he is a new added character that will team-up with Tess Mercer (also a Kryptonian), I don’t know if he’s a bad guy or good one, but definitely he will try to destroy Clark with the help of Tess. Interesting season premiere! Can’t wait…. smallville power!

There is no Mason- Mason was the name of the character given in the casting sides so they could keep the visitor quiet- the naked guy outside the mansion is going to be played by Callum Blue – who is playing Major Zod. We have not yet been told the name he will masquerade under while on Earth. He will be teaming up with Tess though.
I heard rumors that BatMan or the Green Lantern might show up.
truthfully i feel like they should have waited til Clark (Tom Welling) started to fly to make Superman Returns, the other dude looks the part but after Smallville aired Tom Welling seems to be the new face of Superman. Off subject i know but no one else seems to be here. my opinion, anyway.
I want clark to hurry up and fly too, but you know the timing has to be right. He cant start off doing everything we would not have a season 9!

The premiere was on Sept 25, 2009 in the US- if you are outside the US that date will vary. Check the listings for your local stations that air Smallville for upcoming air dates per usual.
