8.14 Smallville Requiem Official Episode Description

January 26, 2009

The most important thing about this episode? IT IS THE LAST APPEARANCE OF LANA LANG on Smallville. If you love Lana- enjoy it – the rest of us will be waiting for the return of new episodes in March. Smallville will be going on a short hiatus from Feb – March. Check back with OSCK for air dates on Smallville’s return!

SMALLVILLE BRINGS IN ANOTHER DC VILLIAN — An explosion at LuthorCorp kills all the Board members and injures Oliver (Justin Hartley), who was there to announce the merger of his company with LutherCorp. Oliver believes that Lex is responsible for the blast, but Clark (Tom Welling) and Lana (Kristin Kreuk) learn that the bomber is Winslow Schott (guest star Chris Gauthier), a toymaker and former Queen Industries employee with a grudge against Oliver.  Michael Rohl directed the episode written by Holly Henderson & Don Whitehead.
The “Requiem” episode of ‘Smallville‘ airs on February 5th at 8pm on The CW. Check your local listings.

I’m confused as to why they are going on another breakk.I dont remember that happening in season 7.I hope the break isnt too long

Season 7 had the huge break thanks to the writers strike- though SMallville was not as bad as other shows thanks to them starting shooting early and having more completed episodes than other shows. Prior years they have done this – they show new epis in January- then take a break through Feb, show a couple of epis in March- then a break and then the final epis start in April. It is confusing and the breaks leave viewers not knowing when new episodes are airing- which explains why these mid-year ones all seem to get lower ratings than other episodes. One nice thing was that last year when Smallville returned from the strike there were no repeats for the entire last part of the season.

Ok, I have to just say that after watching “Power” tonight I am seriously ready to boycott Smallville. I am a longtime lurker but first time poster. The end scene with him and Lana was so disgusting that it made me sick. Congratulations Smallville on officially ruining the Superman legacy. Remember Lois, Clark? Apparantly he didn’t tonight. And on the roof of the daily planet building. I know Lana is gone after next week but I feel like this has been unforgiveable. I thought that the Season 8 writers were better than this. Honestly…what were they thinking? What is wrong with them and why do they insist on making her the great love of his life? Do they just hate tradition? Are they purposely trying to alienate all Superman fans? So so disgusted. Ready to just stop watching this show…

I am trying really hard to sensor myself and to come up with a sensible and intelligent comment. The main problem, what I don’t understand, is the need to place Lana on the highest pedestal that the writers can find. The fact that they would ruin a truly amazing season and jeopardize the future of their show by pissing off the fans so completely just to make Lana into this self-sacrificing martyr super-chick is beyond me. This is not good business. PS3 is taking a huge gamble thinking that the fans would stick around, or even come back, once Lana is gone and the show is back on track with the storylines. All I can think is that this is some horrible dream because last night’s episode fits no where in the rest of the season. Their first mistake was thinking that we actually cared why Lana left and what happened to her when she was gone. Their second mistake was reducing the greatest superhero down to nothing more than a weak pansy that isn’t enjoyable to watch. When I see the Clark Kent from earlier in the season, I think “that’s a man that I can believe will give people hope. A man that can save humanity.” I don’t want the Clark Kent from last night to even try to save my cat from a tree. He is weak and spineless, and definitely not a man strong enough for Lois Lane. I am done with the show, because there is nothing they can do at this point to make me see Clark with any type of respect for himself or for others. And, most of all, I have no respect for him.

I love Season 8! It goes to show that the writers are thinking out of the box :)
