Did you miss the season premiere of Smallville? Want to watch it again? The CW will be repeating Odyssey on Sunday night- check your local listings for times. It looks like they will do the same for Plastique next week as well to make up for a lot of markets being pre-empted for sports.
The ratings for the season opener were solid- here is what was reported by TVByTheNumbers:
"The CW season premiere of Smallville led off with 4.383 million viewers and a 1.8/6 in both demo categories. It was down around 14% versus last year’s season premiere (9/27/07) of 5.08 million viewers, but only down about 5% among 18-49 year olds where last year it had a 1.9.
The drop in viewers for Smallville was offset somewhat by the gain in viewers for the premiere of one of my favorite shows, Supernatural which averaged 3.956 million viewer from 9p-10p and a 1.7/5 among 18-49 year olds. Last year’s season premiere on 10/4/07 had of 2.97 million viewers and an 18-49 rating of 1.2, so the gains in viewers are ~33% versus last year and ~42% among 18-49 year olds. Way to go Supernatural!"
The good news is that Smallville’s ratings were up SIGNIFICANTLY over the end of season 7. The back half of season 7 saw a huge drop off as fan indifference set in post Persona which was regretable as the end of the season had the best storytelling and worked out a lot of details in the mythos area as the torch was passed from Millar and Gough to the new showrunners.
You can purchase Smallville season 7 on DVD to catch up on any episodes you missed but the season opener pretty much wiped the slate clean for a fresh start to season 8. Come in and talk to other superman fans in our forums! We offer a refuge for those tired of bickering with ships of all sorts who just want to talk about Clark and his destiny which the show is finally returning to in a big way this season.
